Stop this please!! Enough with the delusions. Enough with the pretence gloating. Enough with the attempt to cajole the masses with bogus adulations! For those people who are under the misconception of patriotism as a result of excessive inanity or vacuousness, this post is not for you. So stop bitching. Yesterday night, out of desperation I logged on to Cricinfo have a look at the cricket score of the 2nd test between India and Australia. As it was updating, I had an urge to see a glimpse of Tendulkar’s bashing performance and so logged on to CNN-IBN. I was totally taken aback, filled with consternation after hearing about the New Year eve molestation incidents and a total sense of bafflement over this “first woman serial killer” of the country. What the hell?

Regarding the former, I couldn’t help but flout at the dysfunctional attitude of the Police commissioner whose statement was the following:

I cannot provide a police officer for each and every individual. So, if you want to protect your women, keep them inside your houses. Do not make a mountain out of a mole-hill. We have done everything we could.

He should have learnt the “mole-hill” saying from somewhere for it to have popped out from his otherwise incorrigible English. If not for the press and some noble photographers, the whole incident would have been repudiated and vanished into thin air. This only reveals the hubristic attitude of the fainéant officials aggrandized with power, puffed up with utter negligence and reluctance , who are supposed to protect us from these aimless neurotic asses who behave so uncivilized. I see these culprits as a detached flaneur with obdurate conscience and as emotion deprived beasts suffering from the inability of putting their mouse back in the house and respect the other gender. This is a lethargic attitude which puts a lot of other innocent people into trouble. If it were to me, I would enforce the law practiced in some countries of amputating the genitals as a treatment of punishment for crime against women!! Such a fear should induce order.

The one on the left should give a clue about the fainéant officials I mentioned, Left: Our own pride Right: Scotland yard

The picture says it all!!

I found more emotion put into your writing than the people bitching. Well yes we need to take measures to correct things. But corporeal punishment can never be a solution, they create more hate and violence than the incident itself. My solution to this situation is the gradual change of our societal structure – either get rid of old traditions or stick to them dutifully. If we are cat on the wall just like our stupid constitution and economy our society is going no where …. Thats my opinion …. The change must be gradual but should happen in the society as a whole

@ Pavanakumar. It’s all good if things have to change gradually but what ahould the women do (or men) in the mean time?

I totally agree with harsh punishment as a way to curb such horrendous acts. In order to instil respect on women, it has to start from every household. Those girls once they become a mother tell the same thing to their daughters, ‘you are a girl, act like one’. Which means they accept they are weaker sex(mentally) albeit its medically proven women are weaker sex physically. Speaking of government’s negligence, i just smirk and tell myself ‘temme something new’ :) Ending with the quote from Vijaykanth ‘india eppa vallarasu naadangum’ Sorry for not using english, words fail me while translating captain’s fiery dialogues :)

I would like to point out that the crimes by large have increased not just the ones against women. Since women are worshiped in India (in the form of goddesses and bollywood divas) and the fact that they are physically weak or any know reason that can be attributed makes this news more dominant. So purnima we are all under threat. I can tell you there are more women raped in the US than India. But thats a silly excuse to be lethargic about the issue but I am mentioning this to tell you the situation is globally bad. In the US too, the punishment are severe and also timely. But how come crimes haven’t reduced here? So its not a question of punishment its about shaping the society. so purnima we must try changing it … advocate on following principles they help shaping society (thats what Gandhi did) so pkri carrying guns around and shooting erring people cannot stop anything “Thirudanai nenaithu thirundavittal thirutai ozhika mudiyathu” – MGR
